Help fill our Matric Dance 2020 dress collection box

Donate your preloved dress or sponsor a pre-owned dress from our collection of occasion wear.

Last year, we made several generous donations of dresses to schools where underprivileged girls risked missing their farewell dinner simply because they had nothing glamorous to wear, and couldn’t afford to splurge on nice-to-haves. In fact, we were told about a number of cases in which students resorted to attending their prom while donning their school uniform because it was the smartest clothing they owned!

The schools used their new acquisitions to motivate the girls; if they excelled academically, they would be able to attend the matric dance celebration and receive a gorgeous dress - for free - so they could experience that ‘red carpet’ feeling.

During the last quarter of 2019, the sister duo from The Queens Goals approached us. They were keen to have The Mayyarani contribute towards their ‘100 dresses’ collection, and thanks to our big-hearted clientele, we were able to fill a box of exquisite gowns which were personally and individually distributed by the QG team.

We received photographic evidence of the lucky recipients who were visibly thrilled and well, the warm and fuzzy feeling that accompanies these sort of tear-jerker events took weeks to fade...

Cardboard box containing evening dresses

With schools re-opened and students buried in their books once again, we’ve opened a new collection box and we need your help filling it! When the box is filled to the brim and sealed, we’ll either send it to The Queens Goals for their next handout OR donate it to a school of our choice. We do welcome your suggestions on schools deserving of these garments...

Here’s how to contribute:

1. Donate your preloved dress

Wade through your stuff, pick out a pretty dress that’s still in a decent condition and get in touch with us. We’ll respond with all the details on where to drop off or deliver it to.

2. Sponsor a pre-owned dress from our online boutique

Browse our evening dress collection online and pick a garment you think a matric girl would love to be seen in. Get in touch with us and we’ll respond with more information on how to pay.

Thank you in advance!
